An Ultrasound Technologist (also called a Sonographer) is a specially trained medical imager who uses sound waves to create images of organs and tissues within the body. The Ultrasound Technologists performs a preliminary examination of the patient and creates images for the Radiologist to examine.

These professionals have a high level of patient contact in which the use of interpersonal skills is critical. They work in hospitals, clinics, physician's offices, imaging centers, and industry. Avenues for career development include leadership roles as supervisors, 管理员, 教育工作者, 和研究人员.

Ultrasound accepts seven students per year.

We encourage prospective students to visit the medical imaging department of a local clinic or hospital to shadow an Ultrasound Technologist..

Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree

Graduates of the ultrasound program are eligible to take the ARDMS certification examinations.

Bachelor of Professional Studies (BPS) Degree

This program is for students who have an associate's degree, the required prerequisite courses and ARRT certification or certification-eligible in medical imaging (X-ray).

A bachelor of professional studies degree will be awarded as BPS Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound).
